Dear Families,
Welcome to October! We have a busy, exciting month ahead filled with community events, character building, and opportunities to support our school. Here is a look at what’s happening on campus and what we are focusing on in our classrooms.
This month, our school is focusing on three core character traits: Cooperation, Forgiveness, and Integrity. Real character growth happens when the lessons taught in the classroom are reinforced at home. Here is how you can practice and talk about these values with your child this month!
1. Cooperation: The Power of Teamwork
At school, cooperation means listening to classmates, sharing responsibilities, and working toward a shared goal. At home, working together builds empathy and teaches children that everyone contributes to the team.
Home Connection: Assign a shared daily goal, such as cooking dinner or cleaning up the living room together. Emphasize how much faster and more enjoyable tasks become when everyone helps out.
Talk About It: "What is one thing our family accomplished this week by working as a team?"
2. Forgiveness: Repairing Relationships
Conflicts and hurt feelings are a normal part of growing up. Forgiveness teaches children how to let go of resentment, learn from mistakes, and rebuild trust with friends and family.
Home Connection: Practice meaningful apologies. Teach your child that a complete apology includes naming what went wrong, acknowledging how it made the other person feel, and stating how they will make it right next time.
Talk About It: "Why does letting go of anger help us feel better, even when someone else made a mistake?"
3. Integrity When the Teacher is Away: Doing the Right Thing Unseen
Integrity is choosing to follow expectations even when no one is watching. When guest teachers (substitutes) are in the classroom, our students have the perfect opportunity to show true independence, respect, and self-control.
Home Connection: Discuss how your child acts when adult supervision is minimal—such as on the playground, in the hallway, or during independent work time. Reiterate that guest teachers deserve the exact same respect and helpfulness as their regular teacher.
Talk About It: "What was a good choice you made today that no one else noticed?"

Our biggest fundraiser of the season has begun! The Apex Fun Run combines leadership lessons with a high-energy fun run to help raise funds for school programs and classroom supplies. Keep an eye out for pledge information and details on how your student can participate coming home soon.
Walk and Roll to School Day
Put on your walking shoes or grab your helmet! We encourage all families to walk, ride a bike, or roll to school on this special day to promote healthy habits, safety, and community spirit.
Sign Up for Trunk or Treat!
Our annual Trunk or Treat is right around the corner, and we need your help to make it a success! We are looking for families to host decorated car trunks, donate factory-sealed candy, or volunteer during the event. See how you can help below in our PTA section.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in making our school community a positive place to learn and grow. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or ideas.
Warmly,
