Principal's Message
Welcome to Nipomo Elementary School, home of the Tigers!
We've been waiting for you to come to this place. Welcome to another great year at Nipomo Elementary! I am so pleased to return as the principal here. Nipomo is a great place for learning. We want you to feel welcome, safe and studious when you are here. We have a student body of about 430 students and a warm, caring staff.
Parents, you are our partners in your children's education. If you are visiting our campus, please sign-in at the office. If you are hoping to volunteer, please make sure your fingerprints are registered at our HR Department. Our friendly office staff will help guide you in the right direction. The Nipomo Elementary faculty and staff are committed to supporting parents and promoting the very best for their children. With high expectations, open communication, and both student collaborative and direct teacher-instruction, we will engage, inspire, and challenge Nipomo Elementary scholars to be their very best. We will promote learning through high-level questioning, student and teacher inquiry, and creativity.
We are also committed to promoting strong character along with excellent academics. We will continue our Character Education program this year, allowing teachers and staff to teach students about key character traits as Words of the Month (Respect, Responsibility, Compassion, Acceptance, Friendship, Honesty, Cooperation, Perseverance, and Enthusiasm), and recognizing students throughout the year for exhibiting those qualities either at our scholar assemblies or during our morning announcements. This year we will focus on being mindful of how our thoughts and actions affect others. Additionally, we will continue to be a No Place for Hate campus.
We have the privilege to work with your students for seven short years, and when our sixth graders leave us, we hope to have built a foundation for all Nipomo Tigers to be successful academically, socially, and personally in middle school, high school, and in their adult life, as responsible citizens on our planet.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with ideas, questions, or concerns. Open and regular communication with our families is an important goal for us—to that end, please take a moment to search the app store on your smart phone or device and download the new Lucia Mar app! This is a great new way to stay connected with our schools. You can subscribe to Nipomo Elementary and any other sites to follow announcements, download flyers, pay lunch accounts, check Homelink, and much more! Please like us on Facebook at Nipomo Elementary School. Please also take opportunities to get involved with our incredible PTA. Every year the Nipomo PTA works hard to support our school, and we couldn’t provide all of the high-quality learning experiences and field trips that we do, without their amazing efforts. There are many ways to get involved.
Nipomo Tigers are the best! We are glad you are here! We are looking forward to another wonderful year together!
Sincerely,
Julia Bowles
Principal
