Words of the Month for August: Citizenship and Diligence

Message from the Principal

Dear Nipomo Families,

We made it through our opening days, and now we have officially almost completed our first full week of school! It has been incredible seeing our hallways filled with bright smiles, eager faces, and the energetic hum of learning once again.

As we jump into our first full week, here are a few reminders to help make this week smooth and successful for everyone:

  • Establish a Home Routine: Consistent sleep schedules and relaxing morning routines go a long way in helping young learners stay energized throughout a full school week.

  • Communication: Your child's teacher will be reaching out regularly. Never hesitate to connect with them directly on Parent Square or a phone call if you have any questions or if your child is adjusting to the new schedule.

  • Water & Snacks: Please send a labeled, reusable water bottle with your child each day, along with a healthy snack. See the Smart Snack List below.

  • Attendance & Timeliness: Being in class on time is essential for academic success. The gate opens at 9:00 am, and the first bell rings promptly at 9:10 am.

  • Back-to-School Night: Mark your calendars! Our Back-to-School Night will be held on Wednesday, August 26th. Meet me in the MPR for a short presentation at 5:30pm. Classrooms will be open from 6 pm to 7 pm.

  • Homelink Survey: This helps us keep your student safe while they are at school. Please complete the survey.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and for trusting us with your children. We are looking forward to a fantastic, productive year!

Warmest regards,

Mrs. Elisondo

Principal

Counselor Corner

Dear Nipomo Elementary Families,

Welcome to a brand-new school year! There’s nothing quite like the energy of a fresh start, and I am so excited to welcome our returning families back and greet those joining our community for the first time.

A new year brings a clean slate. To support this reset, counseling services do not automatically roll over from previous years, giving every student and staff member a fresh opportunity to establish new routines and build positive connections.

As your school counselor, my goal is to help every student thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Throughout the year, I offer:

  • Check-Ins: Brief support for navigating challenges, regulating emotions, or processing feelings.

  • Small Group Counseling: 3 to 6-week focused groups covering friendship, self-regulation, confidence, and stress management.

  • Community Referrals: Connecting families with outside mental health resources for specialized support.

If you ever feel your child could use extra support, please reach out! Starting with my regular monthly newsletters, I’ll include a direct link to my Counseling Request Form, which will ask about current needs and strategies tried so far.

We are also excited to bring back our Parent Workshop Series—stay tuned for details!

I’m looking forward to partnering with you to make this a joyful, successful year. My door is always open—feel free to reach out anytime via phone or email.

Warmly,

Jessica Baza

Atentamente,

Jessica Baza
